Readong Macondo BogotaThe Universidad de los Andes is offering free registration to its new virtual course, Reading Macondo, an educational initiative that offers the general public the opportunity to learn about the Colombian Nobel Prize-winner through the richness of his narrative.

It is free to sign up to the course, which will begin on June 27 and last seven weeks. Included in the course is a whole host of high-quality multimedia content centred around five of his masterpieces: La Hojarasca, El coronel no tiene quién le escriba, Los funerales de mamá grande, La mala hora and Cien años de soledad.

The course offers a detailed study of the works of García Márquez, including language, time and space within each of the novels, as well as the moments in his life when each of the five books were conceived.

Course videos are in Spanish with English subtitles.
